Chris’s Bar-b-cue
105 US -82 PRATTVILLE, AL
From the wall of deer heads to the Coca-Cola caddies that wrangle the condiments, Chris’s Bar-B-Que is not only a Southern BBQ experience but also a local favorite. The smoky barbecue is clearly a contender for the best in town but Chris’s trademark is its large selection of sides. And not only is there a large selection but every single one of them is tasty. You can’t go wrong not matter which side(s) you pick. Fried okra, corn nuggets, purple hull peas, fried corn on the cobb, stuffed jalapeño peppers, cheese curds, fried pickles, sweet potato fries and mozzarella sticks are all at the top of my personal favorites list.
Prattville’s Southern BBQ Experience
I’ve heard that the hamburger steak is good, but when I go to Chris’s Bar-B-Que, I can’t resist getting something smoked, whether that’s the pulled pork or the smoked turkey. The smoked turkey plate comes with warm white toast, two sides of your choosing and a heap of freshly smoked turkey breast. You can put some house BBQ sauce on your meat for some tang, but you won’t need to—that smoky goodness can stand on its own feet. If you are new to Southern BBQ, you should order the chopped pulled pork sandwich. It’s tender, never dry, with a light smoke flavor that’s heavenly. It comes on a classic bun with pickles that are straight dill and whatever two sides sound good to you (because the truth is, they are ALL good).
